US Pledges Strategic Partnership with Aba Business Community as Ambassador Mills Meets ACCIMA Leadership

The United States has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with Aba, the commercial nerve center of Abia State, as the US Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Richard Mills, held a private meeting with the leadership of the Aba Chamber of Commerce, Mines, Industry, and Agriculture (ACCIMA) alongside other key stakeholders.
During the closed-door engagement in Aba, Ambassador Mills underscored Washington’s readiness to explore mutually beneficial partnerships with the chamber, emphasizing the importance of identifying priority areas where collaboration could directly enhance production, improve international standards, and address the unique challenges confronting manufacturers and producers across Aba and Abia State at large.
In his address, the President of ACCIMA, Ambassador Geoffrey Chinweoke Uzoagbara, Esq., painted a compelling picture of the dynamism of Aba’s economy, describing it as a resilient and untapped powerhouse with significant potential for global partnerships. He listed key sectors where the United States could make the most impactful contributions, particularly agriculture, textiles, electricity, oil and gas, and security. Uzoagbara further emphasized that the ongoing reforms and infrastructural upgrades championed by Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, have strategically repositioned Aba as a magnet for both local and foreign investors.
Ambassador Mills welcomed the chamber’s proposals and assured that the United States would actively work towards translating them into concrete interventions. He pledged support in ensuring that the identified sectors receive adequate attention while affirming the US government’s willingness to deepen ties with ACCIMA. Beyond immediate collaborations, he also expressed readiness to connect the Aba Chamber with the United States Chamber of Commerce and other leading international chambers across the globe, thereby opening a new gateway for international recognition and cross-border partnerships.
