Asaokpuaja Aba Day 2025: Historic Inaugural Celebration Unites Community, Rekindles Hope for Peace, Progress and Sustainable Development
Asaokpuaja Aba Autonomous Community came alive in a colourful display of culture, unity and renewed purpose as it hosted the Asaokpuaja Aba Day 2025, a landmark event that marked a new chapter in the community’s collective journey toward peace, development and shared prosperity.
The historic celebration drew together community leaders, traditional authorities, political office holders, youth groups and residents from far and near, serving as a powerful reminder that unity remains the strongest force for overcoming long-standing challenges and unlocking sustainable development.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Aba South Local Government Area, Hon. Obialor Denis Anyanwu, who hails from Asaokpuaja Aba, expressed profound appreciation to the steering committee for successfully organising the programme and commended the community for initiating what he described as a timely and visionary event. He assured the people of his readiness to support similar initiatives in the future, stressing that unity is the foundation upon which meaningful development is built.
“Unity is the bedrock upon which great nations are built,” he declared.
Hon. Anyanwu noted that Asaokpuaja Aba Autonomous Community possesses immense human and material potential but emphasized that such potential can only be fully harnessed through collective effort, peace and mutual understanding.
According to him, the era of division must give way to cooperation if the community is to reclaim its pride of place and attract development.
Other prominent community leaders who spoke at the event echoed the Chairman’s message, calling on indigenes to rise above past disagreements and work together to reverse decades of stagnation and missed opportunities.
In his address, the Traditional Ruler of Asaokpuaja Aba Autonomous Community, H.R.H. Eze V.U. Asonye, lamented that prolonged disunity within the community had cost it several critical opportunities. He cited the abandoned primary health centre project and the loss of control of the community market to stranger elements as painful consequences of internal divisions.
The monarch passionately urged all sons and daughters of Asaokpuaja Aba to embrace reconciliation and unity in order to restore lost opportunities and reposition the community for growth.
Adding their voices to the call for unity were respected community figures including Chief Christan Alozie (Alandiuru 1 of Asaokpuaja), Mr. Daniel Eyeribe Ajuwa (Obereagu), Prince Chukwuemeka Harrison Ikpeamaeze, and Hon. Isreal Ikpeamaeze, all of whom stressed that peace and collective responsibility remain the only pathway to lasting progress.

Obialor Denis Anyanwu, reflected on the significance of the occasion, saying, “We’re the people of ‘Asaokpuaja Aba’ and we came out to celebrate our day today and we all came together to celebrate and give thanks to God Almighty who has sustained and kept us all alive from January till date (December).
“I appreciate the entire people of Asaokpuaja, most especially the steering committee who organized this event, though this is its first of a kind. Also division isn’t an option and unity will always be our strength.
“This is the first and inaugural celebration event we’ve organised and soon as we continue this celebration, all Abia Indigenes and residents will assemble here to celebrate with us on every 27th of December”
The celebration featured captivating cultural displays, traditional dances and live performances that showcased the rich heritage of Asaokpuaja Aba and its vast potential for growth.
