APC Unveils Powerful 73-Member Central Coordination Committee for March 2026 National Convention, Names Governor Hope Uzodinma as Chairman
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a decisive step toward strengthening its internal democratic processes and consolidating party unity ahead of the 2027 general elections with the appointment of a formidable 73-member Central Coordination Committee for its National Convention scheduled for March 2026.
In a move that underscores the party’s confidence in experienced leadership, Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Senator Hope Uzodinma, has been named Chairman of the high-powered committee. He will be supported by Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who will serve as Vice Chairman, while Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, assumes the role of Secretary.
The composition of the committee reflects a broad national spread and brings together serving governors, former governors, ranking senators, principal officers of the National Assembly, former Speakers of the House of Representatives, party elders, and other influential stakeholders within the APC.
The committee is tasked with providing strategic direction, coordination, and oversight for all activities relating to the National Convention, including logistics, accreditation, security, stakeholder engagement, and overall planning, to ensure a smooth, transparent, and credible convention.
Among the distinguished members are governors Umo Bassey Eno (Akwa Ibom), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Babagana Zulum (Borno), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Abba Kabir Yusuf (Kano), Uba Sani (Kaduna), Dikko Radda (Katsina), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Ahmed Ododo (Kogi), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Mohammed Umar Bago (Niger), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Ahmed Aliyu (Sokoto), and Agbu Kefas (Taraba), among others.
Also listed are prominent party leaders and former governors such as Chief Bisi Akande, Adams Oshiomhole, Abdullahi Adamu, Abdullahi Ganduje, and AbdulAzeez Yari, as well as Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, Senate Majority Leader Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, and several ranking senators and members of the House of Representatives.
The inclusion of respected former legislative leaders like Patricia Etteh, Dimeji Bankole, Yakubu Dogara, and Femi Gbajabiamila further highlights the depth of experience assembled for the assignment.
Party sources say the expansive and inclusive nature of the committee is intended to foster broad ownership of the convention process and reinforce internal cohesion as the APC prepares for a new electoral cycle.
Recall that the APC had earlier released the full timetable for its congresses and national convention as part of a comprehensive roadmap toward the 2027 general elections, signaling the party’s readiness to begin early and structured preparations.
With the inauguration of this Central Coordination Committee, the ruling party appears set to embark on an intensive and carefully managed convention process that could shape its leadership structure and political direction in the years ahead.
