In a pioneering move to modernize tourism in Abia State, Governor Alex Chioma Otti has announced a groundbreaking partnership aimed at digitally rating all hotels and tourist attractions across the state. The initiative will employ global positioning systems and international classification standards, enabling visitors to evaluate facilities and make informed choices during their stay.
The Governor unveiled the initiative on Thursday at the Government House, Umuahia, during the January 2026 edition of “Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians,” a monthly media engagement designed to keep citizens informed about key developments and government policies.
Under this new scheme, Abia State is set to become one of the first states in Nigeria to adopt a standardized digital platform for tourism assessment, reflecting Governor Otti’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance transparency, service quality, and the overall visitor experience.
Officials believe the program will not only boost tourism but also attract investment in hospitality infrastructure, promote local businesses, and ensure that travelers across the globe have reliable, up-to-date information about accommodations and attractions in the state.
Governor Otti emphasized that this digital rating system aligns with his administration’s vision of making Abia a preferred destination for leisure, business, and cultural tourism in Nigeria and beyond.
