Celebrating Identity Through Art: All Roads Lead to Umuahia as Abia Set to Host Grand Canvas and Culture Art Festival
The city of Umuahia is set to come alive with artistic brilliance, cultural expression, and creative innovation as the Abia State Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, in collaboration with House of Crystal Empire, stages the much-anticipated Canvas and Culture Art Festival 2026.
The festival, themed “Defining Us,” is scheduled to hold on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the iconic Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The event is designed to showcase the rich cultural heritage, artistic talents, and creative potential of Abia State while promoting the importance of arts and culture as tools for identity, economic growth, and social transformation.
Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour, underscoring the Alex Otti-led administration’s unwavering commitment to the growth of the creative economy and the promotion of the state’s cultural values. His presence underscores the commitment of the present administration to the development of the creative economy and the preservation of the state’s cultural values.
Also expected at the festival is the Honourable Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Doc Matthew Ekwuribe, whose ministry has continued to champion initiatives aimed at empowering artists, promoting cultural tourism, and positioning Abia as a leading hub for creativity and innovation in Nigeria.
The Canvas and Culture Art Festival promises an exciting blend of visual arts exhibitions, cultural displays, creative showcases, networking opportunities, and engaging interactions among artists, cultural enthusiasts, stakeholders, and members of the public.
