Gov. Ademole Adeleke Breaks Down in Tears as Davido Congratulates Him on Osun Re-election Victory
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, became visibly emotional on Sunday as he received a congratulatory call from his nephew and Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, following his victory in the Osun State governorship election.
The emotional moment came shortly after Adeleke was declared the winner of the keenly contested election, securing a second term in office and extending the Adeleke political dynasty’s influence in the state.
Adeleke polled 511,067 votes across Osun State to defeat his major challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in an election that attracted significant attention both within and outside the state.
Davido had openly supported his uncle throughout the election campaign, repeatedly expressing confidence that the governor would overcome his opponents and retain his position as governor of Osun State.
The singer’s support for Adeleke had been evident during the campaign period, as he used his public platform to mobilise support and rally behind the governor’s re-election bid.
In a video circulating online, Adeleke could be seen speaking with Davido over the phone when the weight of the moment appeared to overwhelm him.
The governor became emotional during the conversation and was heard telling the singer, “Come and give me a hug,” in an apparent expression of gratitude and affection.
The touching scene was further heightened when Adeleke’s son, popular singer B-Red, was seen beside him, patting the governor on the back as he struggled to contain his emotions.
The moment has since attracted widespread attention online, with many viewers describing it as a deeply personal exchange between members of the Adeleke family following a major political victory.
For Adeleke, the result marks another significant milestone in his political career, while for Davido, the victory represents the culmination of his highly visible support for his uncle throughout the campaign.
