NDC to Unveil National Campaign Council, Present Financial Statement at 3rd NEC Meeting, Challenges APC on Transparency
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced plans to unveil its National Campaign Council (NCC) and present its financial statement at its third National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled to hold on Monday, October 26, 2026, in Abuja.
The party disclosed that the meeting would take place at JD Event Centre, Kashim Ibrahim Way, opposite A-Class Park, Maitama, Abuja, beginning at 10 a.m. prompt.
According to a statement issued on Saturday, October 24, by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, Esq., the meeting would feature the presentation of the party’s Statement of Account by the National Treasurer, a move the NDC said underscores its commitment to transparency and accountability in political party administration.
Highlighting the importance of financial openness in politics, the party challenged other political parties, particularly the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to adopt similar measures in managing and disclosing their finances.
The NDC declared that it was determined to break away from conventional political practices, insisting that its approach to politics would be guided by accountability, openness and a commitment to serving Nigerians.
“For the NDC, it is no longer politics as usual,” the statement declared.
The party also attributed its inability to generate more revenue from the sale of Expression of Interest forms to the country’s prevailing economic hardship, claiming that widespread poverty, hunger and deprivation had affected the financial capacity of many of its candidates.
According to the statement, approximately 80 per cent of the party’s candidates could not afford the Expression of Interest forms, compelling the NDC to provide the forms free of charge to enable them to participate in the electoral process.
The party argued that the decision reflected its response to the economic difficulties facing Nigerians, which it blamed on what it described as the APC-led government’s rudderless leadership and amorphous economic policies.
Beyond the presentation of its financial statement, the NDC said the NEC meeting would provide an opportunity to formally unveil its National Campaign Council, which it described as an all-encompassing structure designed to coordinate its campaign activities across different levels of government.
The proposed campaign structure will cover the presidential, National Assembly, governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections, bringing the party’s campaign machinery under a coordinated national framework.
The NDC also announced that its candidates for the various elective positions would be presented with their respective Certificates of Return during the event.
The development signals the party’s preparations for its electoral engagements as it seeks to establish its political presence and position itself as an alternative platform for Nigerians seeking a different approach to governance.
Expressing confidence in its readiness to compete politically, the party declared that it was fully mobilised to offer Nigerians what it described as the altruistic leadership the country deserves.
The NDC concluded its announcement with an optimistic message about the country’s future, reiterating its belief that a better Nigeria could be achieved through a new approach to leadership and governance.
“A New Nigeria is Possible. We can do it!” the statement added.
The announcement was signed by Osa Director, Esq., National Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Democrati
c Congress, on October 24, 2026.
