A 15-year-old Ghanaian teenager, identified as Javits Frimpong, has died after being shot in the stomach while reportedly on his way to school in the Bronx, New York, in a tragic incident that has left his family devastated and raised concerns about school bullying and youth violence.

The fatal shooting occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2026, near Crotona Park in the Bronx.

According to police reports, the teenager was shot in the stomach but managed to summon the strength to run approximately one block before collapsing from his injuries. He was subsequently rushed to a hospital for emergency medical treatment but tragically succumbed to his injuries.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, with authorities searching for three teenage suspects who reportedly fled the scene dressed in black clothing and wearing blue surgical masks. As of the latest available information, no arrests have been announced.

Meanwhile, the teenager’s grieving father, Thomas Frimpong, believes the deadly incident could be connected to bullying his son had reportedly experienced at school.

Speaking to ABC7 New York, Thomas disclosed that the school’s principal had contacted him three days before the shooting to inform him that two students had been suspended over allegations of bullying. The revelation has heightened the family’s concerns about whether the reported bullying may have played a role in the circumstances that led to their son’s death.

Describing Javits as a quiet, intelligent and precious child, his father said the teenager rarely spent time outside their home, painting a picture of a young boy whose life was cut short under devastating circumstances.

The family’s concerns have added another troubling dimension to the investigation, particularly as questions emerge about the possible connection between the reported bullying and the fatal shooting.

However, police have not established any link between the alleged bullying and the killing, and investigators have yet to publicly determine the motive behind the attack.

The search for the three suspects continues as authorities work to establish what happened in the moments leading up to the shooting and identify those responsible for the teenager’s death.

Javits’ death has renewed concerns about the safety of young people, the devastating consequences of gun violence and the importance of taking bullying allegations seriously before they escalate into more dangerous situations.

For his family, what should have been an ordinary school morning has ended in an unimaginable tragedy, with a 15-year-old boy’s future cut short and unanswered questions surrounding the circu mstances of his death.
