In the past few days, a man who is easily distinguished by his appearance, with an imposing presence even before he speaks, has gone viral. His name is Mahmud Sadis Buba.
Buba has taken some far-reaching steps, and they have not gone unnoticed in the political space recently. It has continuously generated a flurry of reactions in the political space.
His name and presence have become household names for many within and outside political circles in Kaduna and beyond, and, most importantly, within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The young aspirant has been pictured alongside several prominent political figures, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani; Seyi Tinubu; Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai; and Member representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, Bello El-Rufai, among others, further amplifying his growing visibility and acceptance within elite political networks.
Recently, Buba obtained the APC expression-of-interest and nomination forms to contest the House of Representatives. He aims to represent Sabon-Gari Federal Constituency in Kaduna State, Nigeria.
Reflecting on his personal journey, Buba highlighted his rise from modest beginnings as a driver, noting that his experience has reinforced his belief in equal opportunity.
The aspirant pledged to prioritise transparent, people-oriented representation if elected, emphasising his commitment to addressing constituents’ needs.
Buba, who is the chairman of the ‘Tinubu—Uba Sani Agenda ‘27 support group, is from Kaduna State.
His political ambition also drew notable commentary from former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani, who wrote on his verified X (formerly Twitter) page: “Hon Mahmud Sadis Buba is 30 years old. He bought his form to vie for the Reps seat in Zaria. A challenge to the youth.”
If he emerges, he will become the shortest man ever to serve in the Nigerian National Assembly.
Formally declaring his ambition ahead of the APC primaries, Buba stated:
“Today, I humbly announce that I have obtained my nomination form to contest for the House of Representatives, Sabon Gari Federal Constituency.
“From my beginnings as a driver to this moment, my journey has been built on hard work, resilience, and the belief that every individual, no matter their background, can rise to serve.
“I am stepping forward with a clear vision: to represent the people of Sabon Gari with honesty, dedication, and true leadership. Your voice will be heard, your concerns will matter, and together we will work towards real development and opportunities for all.
“This campaign is not just about me, it is about us, our future, and the progress of our constituency. I ask for your support, your prayers, and your trust as we begin this journey together.
“Sabon Gari, let’s rise as one.”
In continuation of his political consultations, Buba also met with key stakeholders. Days after purchasing the nomination form, he presented it to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, as part of his consultative efforts.
“I had the distinct privilege of presenting my Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms for the House of Representatives, Sabon Gari Federal Constituency, to the President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Godswill Akpabio.
“This moment signifies a bold step forward in my commitment to purposeful leadership, effective representation, and the collective progress of our people,” he said
