The United States House Appropriations Committee is set to submit a major report to the White House following its probe into alleged genocide against Christians in Nigeria.

The development was revealed in a post on X, Wednesday, signaling escalating U.S. concern over what top American lawmakers describe as systematic and brutal persecution of Christians across Nigeria.

According to the committee:

“Appropriator Rep Riley Moore has been at the forefront of bringing attention to the brutal persecution of Christians in Nigeria.”

It further stated that “Subcommittee Chairman MarioDB’s FY26 NSRP bill reaffirms @POTUS’ CPC designation, and our committee is preparing a report for the WhiteHouse.”

The move comes after former U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he had redesignated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern (CPC)” in response to widespread claims of targeted attacks against Christians.

Trump made the announcement via his Truth Social platform, declaring:

“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN’ — But that is the least of it.”

He went further, hinting that the United States may consider direct military involvement should the killings continue unabated.

At the center of this explosive inquiry is Rep. Riley Moore, who leads the investigative panel established by Trump to examine the alleged large-scale killing of Christians in Nigeria. Moore has repeatedly criticized the Nigerian government for failing to justify the massive military and security assistance it has received from Washington.

During a recent appearance on the Dinesh D’Souza program shared on Friday and viewed, Moore expressed deep frustration over what he described as global silence toward the plight of persecuted Christians in Nigeria.

He lamented:

“My brothers and sisters in Christ are murdered for practicing their faith and belief in our Lord Jesus Christ,” denouncing what he sees as longstanding neglect by both Nigerian authorities and the international community.

Moore warned that continued inaction could open the door to even greater instability, stressing that the United States would eventually be compelled to respond if the violence escalates further.

“If we don’t address this, if we don’t do something about this and some terrorists take hold in Nigeria, I promise you, we would have to address it one way or the other. What I would like to do is address it in a cooperative manner with the Nigerians and hopefully there would be.”

He sharply criticized Nigeria for failing to prioritize Christian protection despite receiving billions of dollars in U.S. security assistance.

“I think there is a potential very quickly to Partner and I am hoping they would Partner with the US government to address this because we have been providing them billions of billions of dollars worth of security assistance… and they are not prioritising the protection of the Christians.”

Moore added that the crisis has gone largely unnoticed:

“The pieces are in place to address this, it has been flying under the radar and nobody has cared about this for a very long time. But if we are not going to stand up for this for the very Values we have as Christians… we are talking about going on to protect Christians from murder.”

Describing the situation as a “forgotten genocide,” Moore insisted that the time has come for both Nigeria and world leaders to move beyond statements and take concrete action.

He earlier reaffirmed his commitment to delivering his report to Trump, writing:

“I am on it.”

Moore also praised Trump’s involvement, stating:

“Thank you, President Trump, for your incredible leadership in defending persecuted Christians, especially in Nigeria. Your bold and decisive action to protect our brothers and sisters in Christ will save thousands of lives. I am on it and will have more for you soon.”

With the House Appropriations Committee now preparing to transmit its findings to the White House, international pressure on Nigeria is expected to intensify, potentially triggering new diplomatic, political, or even military consequences depending on the report’s outcome.
