…Tells Nigeria Delegation, Trump Doesn’t Make Empty Threats

Congressman Riley M. Moore held a high-level meeting today with a delegation of senior Nigerian officials, led by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, during their visit to Washington, D.C. The discussions focused on the ongoing persecution of Christians in Nigeria, rising terrorist threats, and opportunities for stronger U.S.-Nigeria cooperation to end the violence.

During the meeting, Nigerian representatives outlined their government’s current security challenges, counterterrorism strategies, and concerns about protecting vulnerable communities from violence across the country.

Congressman Moore emphasized the United States’ commitment to supporting Nigeria in combating terrorism and protecting religious minorities. He reiterated that, in line with President Trump’s stance, the U.S. will not tolerate continued violence against Christians and other forms of religious persecution.

“This was a frank, honest, and productive discussion with senior members of the Nigerian government regarding the horrific violence Christians face and the ongoing terrorism threat in Nigeria.

“We stand ready to work cooperatively with Nigeria to help combat Boko Haram, ISWAP, and Fulani militant attacks, particularly against Christians in the Northeast and Middle Belt regions. The Nigerian government has a real opportunity to strengthen its relationship with the United States.

“President Trump and Congress are united in our resolve to end violence against Christians and disrupt terrorist networks. I urge Nigerian authorities to engage with us in coordinated action on this critical issue,” Congressman Moore said.

The Nigerian delegation included: Mallam Nuhu Ribadu (National Security Adviser and Leader of the Delegation), Her Excellency Bianca Ojukwu (Minister of State for Foreign Affairs), Mr. Kayode Egbetokun (Inspector General of Police), Chief Lateef Olasunkami Fagbemi, SAN (Attorney General of the Federation), General Olufemi Olatunbosun Oluyede (Chief of Defence Staff), Lt. Gen. EAP Undiendeye (Chief of Defence Intelligence), Ms. Idayat Hassan (Special Adviser to ONSA), Ambassador Ibrahim Babani (Director of Foreign Relations, ONSA), Ambassador Nuru Biu (Acting CDA, Embassy of Nigeria), Paul Alabi (Political and Economic Section, Embassy of Nigeria)

The meeting underscored the importance of sustained U.S.-Nigeria cooperation in ending the bloodshed and ensuring the protection of religious minorities while confronting terrorist threats throughout Nigeria.
