The Gombe State Police Command says a report claiming that ECWA Church in Kashere, Akko local government, was attacked is “entirely false”.

According to the Command, officers immediately contacted one of the church elders through the Divisional Police Officer in Pindiga and the officer in charge of the Kashere outstation and confirmed the report as false.

The police said this in a statement signed by DSP Buhari Abdullahi, Police Public Relations Officer of Gombe command.

The elder, who was inside the church during the second part of the Hausa service, confirmed that “no such incident occurred”.

He also said police officers were at the church throughout the day, providing routine security.

The Command described the rumour as irresponsible and capable of causing panic. It says the source of the false report will be investigated and appropriate action taken.

The police urged residents to stay calm and be law-abiding, assuring them that the Command remains committed to the safety of everyone in the state.
