FUTO SET FOR 37TH CONVOCATION LECTURE AS GOVERNOR ALEX OTTI HEADLINES EVENT
The Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) is set to host its 37th Convocation Lecture, an intellectual highlight that brings together scholars, policymakers, industry leaders and members of the public for robust engagement on national development.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. (Mrs.) Nnenna N. Oti, JP, RSS, FSSCN, has extended a warm invitation to the university community and the general public to participate in the event, which promises to offer deep insights into Nigeria’s economic future.
This year’s convocation lecture will be delivered by the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, a renowned economist and reform-driven administrator. He will speak on the theme: “Beyond Oil: Exploring Alternative Revenue Potentials for Economic Growth and Sustainable Development in Nigeria”. The topic aligns with ongoing national conversations on economic diversification, innovation, and the need to reduce Nigeria’s heavy dependence on crude oil.
The event is scheduled to hold on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 12 noon, at the prestigious Prof. C.O.E. Onwuliri Conference Hall.
The Convocation Lecture Series Committee, chaired by Prof. B. O. Esonu, RAS, FASN, FNSAP, FCASN, who also serves as the University Orator, is coordinating arrangements to ensure a successful and memorable academic gathering.
