PDP NATIONAL CONVENTION FORMALLY EXPELS FORMER RIVERS GOVERNOR, NYESOM WIKE FROM PARTY
…as Delegates Unanimously Endorse Decision After Reviewing Constitutional Breaches
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally announced the expulsion of former Governor of Rivers State and current Federal Capital Territory Minister, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, following a unanimous resolution reached at the party’s 2025 National Convention held between November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
According to the party’s leadership, the expulsion followed a detailed review of Mr. Wike’s actions and alleged serial violations of multiple provisions of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017), including Article 10(6); Sections 33(1), (2), (5)(j); 58(1)(b), (c), (f), (i), (j), (l); and 59(1)(g). The party’s constitutional committees, disciplinary bodies, and convention delegates reportedly scrutinized his activities before reaching a collective and unanimous conclusion.
The 2025 National Convention, attended by accredited delegates from all 36 states and the FCT, formally endorsed the decision, marking a decisive statement on internal discipline, cohesion, and the enforcement of party values.
Following the adoption of the resolution, the PDP National Chairman, H.E. Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, and the National Secretary, H.E. Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, jointly signed and issued the official Certificate of Expulsion dated December 2, 2025.
The expulsion marks a significant turning point in the PDP’s ongoing efforts to rebuild, reposition, and reinforce party discipline ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
