PREMIER MAYORS DECLARE SUPPORT FOR GOV. ALEX OTTI’S RE-ELECTION, HAIL TRANSFORMATION IN ABIA LGAs
…says The Best Engineers Are Often Needed to Build the Foundation of any Good Structure
The Association of Premier Mayors in Abia State has announced a united political front in support of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, ahead of the 2027 governorship election, describing the Governor as the visionary who laid a new foundation for a functional and people-oriented local government system in the state.
In a statement signed on December 7, 2025, by the Interim Chairman of the Association, Dr. Elelenta Nwambuisi Elele, the former mayors said that just as the best engineers are required to build the foundation of a strong structure, Governor Otti had deliberately assembled a team of accomplished, intelligent and reputable technocrats at the beginning of his administration to redefine local government governance in Abia.
The group, now formally coalesced as the Abia State Premier Mayors Association (APMA), comprises 17 pioneer mayors appointed under the current administration, excluding the late Mayor of Osisioma, Chief Engr. Israel Nweke, whom they paid tribute to.
According to APMA, their intervention became necessary to counter what they described as “opposition elements from failed past administrations” who are attempting to discredit the transformation currently taking place across Abia’s local government system.
The former mayors noted that the Gov. Alex Otti-led administration has changed the narrative at the grassroots through visible and measurable outcomes. They highlighted improvements in:
i. Rural infrastructure, including grading and asphalting of roads
ii. Installation of solar-powered streetlights to combat insecurity
iii. Reconstruction and modernization of Local Government Headquarters
iv. Sanitation improvements, especially in Aba and Umuahia
v. Prompt and regular payment of workers’ salaries at the LGA level
The statement emphasized that the contrast between the current infrastructure and what existed three years ago is “undeniable to any honest observer,” pointing out that the once-filthy and chaotic cities of Aba and Umuahia now enjoy better waste management and motorable streets.
“Those whose feeding bottles were removed may refuse to see the change, but the citizens can,” the association stressed.
The group asserted that the LG headquarters, previously overtaken by rodents and reptiles due to neglect, have now been restored as functional administrative centres, while workers, who were once owed several months of arrears, now receive timely salaries.
Declaring their readiness to defend and promote the gains of the Otti-led government, the association vowed not to “stand on the sidelines and watch decadence derail the foundation they helped build.”
“2027, here we come! Ain’t no stopping us now,” the statement concluded.
The Abia State Premier Mayors Association says it is mobilizing grassroots support to ensure the continuity of good governance beyond the current tenure.

THE BEST ENGINEERS ARE OFTEN NEEDED TO BUILD THE FOUNDATION OF ANY GOOD STRUCTURE.
Governor Alex Otti, at the beginning of his leadership of Abia State and in his usual brainiac approach, decided to choose high-level intelligent, highly reputable, accomplished and experienced few individuals to help him, in laying the foundation of a people oriented Abia State Local Government Administration.
These unique 17 individuals (save the late Osisioma Mayor , Chief Engr Isreal Nweke; may his Soul rest in peace) have decided that they must not stand on the sidelines and watch opposition from previously failed administrations, destroy the ongoing great work of this current administration which we helped build. Consequently we have coalesced into The ABIA STATE PREMIER MAYORS ASSOCIATION (APMA); up and ready to support the reelection of our most highly performing Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR.
It’s no gainsaying when the Premier Mayors claim to be the engineers that laid the foundation of Governor Alex Chioma Otti’s concepts of Abia State Local Government that works for the citizens and reaches out to the grassroot. From the inception of the Abia Premier Mayors till today, the works of the Otti’s government have spread through every part of the previously neglected Local Government Areas: from rural road gradings to the asphalting of very important rural roads, some that include the installation of crime fighting solar lights.
To any honest broker, the difference between what Abia infrastructure looked like three years ago and what it looks like today, is evident and clear! The cleanliness of Aba and Umuahia Cities are many folds better. The former smelly piles of garbage are all gone. The potholes impediment to traffic in these cities are almost completely gone! Yet those whose feeding bottles were snipped have refused to see the obviously clear difference.
In the local governments, the LGA Headquarters have continued to be rebuilt and refurbished. They are no longer overgrown bushy roosting places for scorpions, rats, snakes and wildlife. Even the LGA workers are now getting paid their salaries monthly on time. The previous holders of LGA HQ leadership and offices will tell you that they were doing their best given what the government of the time allowed them to do.
The difference between the current Gov. Alex Chioma Otti’s LGA leadership and the resulting outcomes and results are readily visible.
With the great work done so far by the administration, the Premier Mayors have declared that they cannot be on standby and watch rot derail the foundation of the Abia State Local Governments which they helped build! We are now fully dressed up and ready to fight for the continuation of the good governance of the Alex Otti’s government.
2027 HERE WE COME! AIN’T NO STOPPING US NOW‼️
