Security Alert Claims on Owerrinta–Airport Road: Abia State Govt Dismisses Report as Unconfirmed, Reaffirms Commitment to Safety During Yuletide

The Abia State Government has dismissed circulating reports alleging hijacking and kidnapping along the Owerrinta–Airport route, stating that the information remains unverified and should not be treated as confirmed security intelligence.
Responding to questions from newsmen on Monday at the Government House, Umuahia, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, clarified that there is no official confirmation of the alleged incident. He urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unsubstantiated claims capable of creating panic.
Ekeoma emphasized that the administration of Governor Alex Otti remains fully committed to safeguarding lives and property, particularly as residents and visitors prepare to celebrate the yuletide season. He added that the state government has intensified security measures across strategic locations to ensure safe movement and peaceful festivities.
The briefing followed this week’s Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti, where security concerns and holiday safety preparations formed a key part of the discussions.
