Venezuela’s Acting President, Delcy Rodríguez, has issued a far-reaching diplomatic appeal to the United States and the international community, striking a notably conciliatory tone in the aftermath of the reported U.S. capture of President Nicolás Maduro.

In a statement shared on social media, Rodríguez invited the U.S. government to engage Venezuela on a new agenda of cooperation, signalling Caracas’ willingness to de-escalate tensions and pursue a reset in long-strained bilateral relations. Her message emphasized peace, dialogue, and mutual respect, framing Venezuela’s current posture as one rooted in sovereignty and international law rather than confrontation.

According to Rodríguez, Venezuela seeks a future free from intimidation and external pressure, stressing that the country “aspires to live without external threats” while working toward balanced and respectful relations with Washington. She underscored that genuine global peace begins with stability within nations and respect among states, positioning Venezuela as an advocate of diplomatic engagement over conflict.

The statement also reaffirmed Venezuela’s broader regional outlook, highlighting the importance of non-interference, sovereign equality, and cooperation among nations of the Americas.

Rodríguez made it clear that these principles continue to guide Venezuela’s foreign policy, even amid heightened geopolitical uncertainty.

Below is the full text of the statement released by the Acting President:

“A message from Venezuela to the world, and to the United States:

“Venezuela reaffirms its commitment to peace and peaceful coexistence. Our country aspires to live without external threats, in an environment of respect and international cooperation. We believe that global peace is built by first guaranteeing peace within each nation.

“We prioritise moving towards balanced and respectful international relations between the United States and Venezuela, and between Venezuela and other countries in the region, premised on sovereign equality and non-interference. These principles guide our diplomacy with the rest of the world.

“We invite the US government to collaborate with us on an agenda of cooperation oriented towards shared development within the framework of international law to strengthen lasting community coexistence.

“President Donald Trump, our peoples and our region deserve peace and dialogue, not war. This has always been President Nicolás Maduro’s message, and it is the message of all of Venezuela right now. This is the Venezuela I believe in and have dedicated my life to. I dream of a Venezuela where all good Venezuelans can come together.”

Political observers say the statement represents one of the most direct overtures to Washington from Venezuela’s leadership in recent years, especially given the tense circumstances surrounding Maduro’s reported capture. Whether the appeal will translate into concrete diplomatic engagement remains uncertain, but the message unmistakably signals Caracas’ desire to replace hostility with dialogue and cooperation.
