Bashir Ahmad, a former presidential media aide, has cautioned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, against any actions capable of disrupting the internal stability of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ahmad’s warning comes amid an escalating war of words between the FCT Minister and the National Secretary of the APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru, a development that has further drawn national attention to the complex political alignments surrounding the current administration.

Reacting to the exchange, Ahmad made it clear that Wike’s public support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not translate into membership of the APC, nor does it grant him the latitude to influence or interfere in the party’s internal affairs. He stressed that the ruling party remains guided by its own ideology, structure, and discipline, which must be respected by both members and non-members alike.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Ahmad underscored that political support for the President cuts across party lines and should not be misconstrued as a basis for asserting control or authority within the APC.

“The National Secretary of the APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru has reminded Nyesom Wike that his support for President Bola Tinubu, does not automatically make him a member of the APC,” Ahmad wrote on X.

He further emphasized that backing the President is not exclusive to members of the ruling party, noting that many Nigerians outside the APC have also openly expressed their support for Tinubu’s administration.

“Millions of non-APC Nigerians also support Mr. President and his own is no different.

“His attempt to destabilise the Party in Rivers State will not be tolerated and he cannot bring the spirit of PDP into the APC.”

Ahmad’s remarks appear to align with growing concerns within the APC over the political activities of Wike, a prominent figure in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), particularly in Rivers State, where political tensions remain high.

The comments also reflect the APC leadership’s insistence on maintaining party cohesion and resisting what it perceives as external influence or ideological infiltration, especially from rival political platforms.

As political maneuverings ahead of future electoral contests continue to intensify, Ahmad’s intervention signals a clear message from within APC circles: support for the President is welcome, but party discipline and identity remain non-negotiable.
