Gov. Otti Urges Ukwa-La-Ngwa Stakeholders to Mobilise Massive PVC Registration as Bloc Endorses Governor for 2027, Donates ₦100 Million at Historic Civic Reception in Aba

…as Gov. Otti Schedules February 25 Commissioning of Newly Completed Ovom Road, and Flag-Off Reconstruction of Enyimba Hotel into Five-Star International Facility
The Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has called on stakeholders of Ukwa-La-Ngwa extraction to embark on a vigorous mobilisation of all eligible citizens yet to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) within the bloc, in preparation for future elections.
Governor Otti made the appeal on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, during a grand civic reception organised in his honour by the nine Local Government Areas that make up the Ukwa-La-Ngwa political bloc.
The Governor stressed that widespread voter registration is critical if the bloc is to fully demonstrate its actual voting strength and political influence in the democratic process. He expressed concern over what he described as a disturbing disparity between the massive population of Aba, the state’s commercial nerve centre, and its comparatively low voter turnout during elections.
According to him, the current voter register does not reflect the true demographic weight and political potential of Aba, adding that the strength of the people can only be fully realised through active and formal participation in the democratic process.
“The number of people in Aba is ten times larger than the number of votes that come from Aba, so the only way to show your strength is to go to all the nooks and crannies around you and get people to come and register,” he said.
Governor Otti thanked the Ukwa-La-Ngwa people for the colourful civic reception, describing the “intimidating” mammoth crowd as a powerful statement of acceptance and solidarity. He noted that the presence of eminent personalities cutting across party lines, including former Minister of State for Mines and Steel, Dr. Uche Ogah of the APC, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe of the ADC, and former Senate President, Senator Adolphus Wabara of the PDP, among others, underscored a broad-based, cross-partisan endorsement of his administration.
The Governor also announced that the commissioning of the newly completed Ovom Road has been scheduled for February 25. He added that the same date would equally serve as the official flag-off for the reconstruction of the iconic Enyimba Hotel into a five-star international-standard facility to be handled by Radisson Blu.
In separate remarks, the Senator representing Abia South Senatorial District, Chief Enyinnaya Abaribe, speaking on behalf of stakeholders from the nine Ukwa-La-Ngwa Local Government Areas, and the National Secretary of the Labour Party, Senator Darlington Nwokocha, declared that Governor Otti has fundamentally transformed the narrative of Abia State across all sectors.
They said the Governor deserves the full support of every well-meaning citizen, describing the reception as a genuine expression of public love, acceptance, and confidence in his leadership.
According to them, the Governor has, by every standard, redefined governance in Abia State.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the occasion and former Senate President, Senator Adolphus Wabara, described the event as a united, non-partisan and people-driven verdict in honour of a Governor whose performance is anchored on verifiable achievements rather than propaganda.
He stated that the mammoth crowd was “organic, spontaneous, and genuine,” representing citizens who have seen, touched, and benefited from the dividends of purposeful leadership.
Senator Wabara observed that the visible transformation across the state, particularly the timely completion of Port Harcourt Road in Aba, has permanently silenced critics of the present administration. He declared that the era of imposing leaders on Abians is over and urged Governor Otti not to be distracted by forces plotting against his second-term ambition.
According to him, “the future of Governor Otti in 2027 will be decided solely by Abia voters.”
He further remarked that Governor Alex Otti has killed political undertakers in Abia, adding that the state will never again be held hostage by desperate and greedy political merchants.
Senator Wabara also urged the Governor to consider a return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he said offers a stronger and more stable platform for consolidating the gains of his administration ahead of 2027.
Speaking on behalf of the Ukwa-La-Ngwa people, their leader and spokesperson, Chief Theo Nkire, described the event as a celebration of a landmark achiever for the Ukwa-Ngwa nation. He highlighted that Dr. Alex Otti has, within a short period, revolutionised virtually all sectors of public life, notably transforming Aba from a modest trading centre into a fast-emerging world-class industrial hub.
Chief Nkire appealed to all Abians beyond the Ukwa-Ngwa region to view their kinsmen through the lens of shared progress, stressing that the story of the Ukwa-Ngwa people is one of courage, determination, and tangible achievement, now clearly reflected in the state’s ongoing renaissance under Governor Otti.
A major highlight of the event was the announcement by Ukwa-La-Ngwa leaders of the donation of ₦100 million to purchase the nomination form for Governor Alex Otti’s second-term bid.
The gathering also featured the formal endorsement of Governor Otti for the 2027 elections by the Ukwa-La-Ngwa Steering Committee, led by the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, which reaffirmed the ₦100 million pledge in support of the Governor’s re-election.
The atmosphere was further electrified by the arrival of top government officials, including the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, the Mayor of Aba South, Hon. Obialor Denis Anyanwu, and the Mayor of Aba North, Hon. Timothy Kalu Iheke, whose entrance drew loud cheers from the massive crowd. Also captivating was the entrance of the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Abia State Council, Comrade Chukwuma Azode (China).
The event, marked by unity, celebration, and overwhelming support, reinforced the growing consensus around Governor Alex Otti’s leadership and the widespread desire for the continuity of his developmental strides in Abia State.
