President Tinubu Reshuffles Education Sector Leadership, Approves Key Appointments Across NECO, NBTE, Federal Polytechnic, and National Library
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a fresh round of strategic appointments in Nigeria’s education sector, reinforcing leadership across critical institutions responsible for examinations, technical education, and national knowledge management.
The appointments, announced on Wednesday through an official statement from the Presidency, reflect a mix of new leadership placements and the retention or renewal of experienced administrators in key roles.
At the National Examinations Council (NECO), Professor Modupe Adeola Adelabu has been appointed as Chairman of the Governing Board. Her appointment is expected to strengthen policy direction and institutional oversight at the examination body. In continuity of leadership, Professor Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi has been retained as Registrar and Chief Executive, a move seen as a vote of confidence in his ongoing administration.
Similarly, at the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Professor Babatunde Salako has been named Chairman of the Governing Board. Professor Idris M. Bugaje will continue in his role as Executive Secretary, having been reappointed for a second and final five-year term. His reappointment signals the administration’s commitment to sustaining reforms and growth within Nigeria’s technical and vocational education system.
In the polytechnic education segment, Engineer Dr. Bongfa Binfa has been appointed Rector of the Federal Polytechnic N’yak-Shendam in Plateau State for a five-year tenure. His appointment is expected to drive academic development and institutional stability at the relatively new institution.
Meanwhile, Professor Chinwe Veronica Anunobi has had her tenure renewed as Director and Chief Executive of the National Library of Nigeria for a final five-year term. Her continued leadership is anticipated to further enhance library services, knowledge preservation, and access to information nationwide.
These appointments underscore the Tinubu administration’s ongoing efforts to reposition the education sector through experienced leadership, continuity in key institutions, and renewed focus on policy implementation and institutional efficiency.
