ABIA 2027: “LABOUR PARTY IS ALREADY SEATED IN GOVERNMENT HOUSE” — NEW STATE CHAIRMAN, PETER “THE ROCK” AZUBUIKE VOWS TOTAL DOMINANCE, DISMISSES APC AS NON-FACTOR
…says APC’s Does Not Pose Any Real Threat in Abia, It Only Exist in Abuja
The newly elected State Chairman of the Labour Party in Abia State, Hon. Peter Chigozie Azubuike, popularly known as “THE ROCK,” has expressed strong confidence in the party’s strength and readiness to retain power ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that the Labour Party remains firmly in control of the state’s political landscape.
Speaking in an interview with journalists shortly after the just concluded State Congress which produced a new State Working Committee, Azubuike described the consensus mode adopted during the congress as both lawful and widely accepted, emphasizing that the process aligns with existing electoral provisions.
Projecting a bold vision for the party’s future, the chairman outlined plans to deepen grassroots engagement and expand the party’s reach through intensified membership mobilisation across every part of the state. He maintained that no community would be left untouched as the party consolidates its structure and influence.
“As for what we’re bringing new to the party, we’re going to bring in more energy.
“We’re going to bring in vigour. We’re going to do very serious membership drives to ensure that if there are aspects of Abia that are not yet captured by the Labour Party, we’ll make sure we go down to every nook and cranny.
“As for the Government House, come 2027, Labour Party is already seated there. That’s what assurance we can give you,” he said.
Azubuike also took a swipe at opposition forces, particularly the All Progressives Congress (APC), dismissing their presence and relevance within the state. He argued that the APC’s influence is largely confined to the national level and does not pose any real threat in Abia.
Responding directly to questions on opposition strength, he stated; “the only place APC exists outside Abia is at the national level, is in Abuja. In Abia, I can assure you that if we even want to count oppositions, APC is not even the first. They’re not even the second,” the Labour party state chairman said.
Addressing concerns about internal wrangling within the party at the national level, Azubuike reassured members and supporters that such issues are now a thing of the past.
According to him, the Labour Party has overcome its internal challenges and is now more united and focused than ever.
“I can tell you that we used to have crises in the Labour Party, but as of today, we no longer have crises. The party has been fully recovered… as of today, there is no issue in the Labour Party,” he added.
With these assertions, the new chairman has set a confident tone for the party’s political direction, signaling an aggressive push toward consolidation, expansion, and ultimately, victory in 2027.
