Aba Power Announces Temporary Outage As Gas Supply Maintenance Disrupts Electricity Distribution
Residents and businesses within the Aba Ring-fenced Area have been notified of a temporary power interruption following emergency maintenance work affecting gas supply to Geometric Power Aba Limited (GPAL), the primary power provider for Aba Power.
In a power update issued on Saturday, May 31, 2026, the management of Aba Power explained that the outage was caused by emergency maintenance being carried out by gas suppliers to GPAL, a development that has temporarily halted gas supply and turbine operations.
The company further disclosed that discussions are still ongoing with the National Independent Systems Operator (NISO) concerning its connection to the national grid, a process expected to improve electricity supply stability in the area.
According to the statement, the interruption is temporary and efforts are underway to ensure that all issues are resolved as quickly as possible to restore normal power distribution.
The management assured customers that regular electricity supply would resume shortly and appealed for continued patience and understanding during the maintenance period.
The statement read in part that the outage was due to “emergency maintenance being conducted by the gas suppliers to our primary power provider, Geometric Power Aba Limited (GPAL),” adding that the maintenance had “temporarily halted gas supply and turbine operations.”
Aba Power also expressed optimism that ongoing engagements with NISO would yield positive results soon, paving the way for improved service delivery.
Customers across Aba and its environs have continued to express concerns over the disruption, especially amid rising dependence on electricity for commercial and industrial activities in the region.
