Opotoyom Clinches NDC Senatorial Ticket for Abia North Ahead of 2027 Polls
A prominent industrialist and politician, Chief Nnamdi Iro Orji, popularly known as Opotoyom, has emerged victorious in the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) primary election for the Abia North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The primary election, conducted on May 29, 2026, attracted a massive turnout of delegates and party faithful from the five local government areas that make up the senatorial district, reflecting growing political interest within the party ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Chief Orji secured the party’s senatorial ticket after defeating three other aspirants in the keenly contested exercise, including former member of the House of Representatives, Uko Nkole.
