Muslim Community Endorses Governor Alex Otti for Second Term, Commends Inclusive Leadership in Abia
The Muslim community in Abia State has thrown its weight behind the re-election bid of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, endorsing him for a second term in office while applauding his administration’s commitment to peace, security, and inclusive governance across the state.
The endorsement came during a Sallah visit to the Governor by members of the Muslim community led by the Chief Imam, Sheikh Ali Ukaiwo, in a gathering that reflected growing confidence in the administration’s developmental direction and leadership style.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Otti, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Meribole, expressed appreciation to the Muslim faithful for the visit and extended warm felicitations to the community following the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The Governor used the occasion to reaffirm his administration’s dedication to fostering unity among residents of Abia State, stressing that despite religious and ethnic differences, the people remain one united community with a shared destiny and collective responsibility toward the progress of the state.
He emphasized that the current administration would continue to prioritize policies and programmes that promote peaceful coexistence, security, and prosperity for all citizens, irrespective of background or belief.
Governor Otti also appreciated the Muslim community for the support given to him during the 2023 general elections, noting that their renewed endorsement ahead of the 2027 governorship election represents a strong vote of confidence in the achievements, vision, and transformational agenda of his government.
The Governor assured the delegation that his administration remains focused on delivering people-oriented governance and sustaining the momentum of development being witnessed across different sectors in the state.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chief Imam and leader of the delegation, Sheikh Ali Ukaiwo, said the visit was aimed at formally endorsing Governor Alex Otti for a second term while also appreciating the strides recorded by the administration since assuming office.
He recalled the massive support the Muslim community mobilized for Governor Otti during the last general elections in pursuit of a new Abia built on progress, accountability, and good governance.
Ukaiwo reaffirmed the unwavering support of the Muslim community for the Governor and pledged their continued commitment toward sustaining the administration’s developmental efforts beyond the present tenure, expressing confidence in the Governor’s vision for a more prosperous and united Abia State.
