The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, has been crowned the new Paramount Ruler of Ayakoro Community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, marking a significant moment in the history of the ancient community. Following his installation, he will now bear the revered traditional title of Daufa VI.

Dr. Ogbuku’s emergence as the Paramount Ruler came in line with the provisions of the Ayakoro Community Constitution and followed the demise of the former Paramount Ruler six months ago. Prior to his ascension to the throne, he served as the Deputy Paramount Ruler, a position that placed him at the heart of the community’s traditional leadership structure.

The installation ceremony, which attracted community leaders, traditional rulers, government officials, and well-wishers, was supervised by the Bayelsa State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to ensure compliance with established traditional and administrative procedures. During the same event, Chief Micha Itekesi was formally installed as the new Deputy Paramount Ruler of Ayakoro Community.

Speaking shortly after his installation, Dr. Ogbuku described the honour bestowed upon him as far more than a ceremonial title or public office. He said the elevation reflected the appreciation of the people for his years of dedicated service, commitment, and contributions to the development of the community.

He pledged to discharge his responsibilities with humility, honesty, and unwavering dedication, assuring the people that he would remain committed to advancing the collective interests of Ayakoro.

According to him, the confidence reposed in him by the community serves as proof that sacrifice, hard work, and selfless service do not go unnoticed.

The newly installed Paramount Ruler also expressed optimism that his reign would usher in a new era of peace, unity, mutual respect, and sustainable development for the community. He emphasized the importance of working together to strengthen the bonds that unite the people and create opportunities for future growth and prosperity.

Offering prayers for a successful reign, Dr. Ogbuku stated, “May God give us wisdom, patience, courage, and understanding. We pray that our reign will bring peace, unity, dignity, and greater progress to Ayakoro Community.”

He further expressed gratitude to the people of Ayakoro for their support and trust, assuring them that he would collaborate closely with all stakeholders to build a stronger, more prosperous, and united community for future generations.

The installation of Dr. Samuel Ogbuku as Daufa VI is widely seen as the beginning of a new chapter in Ayakoro Community’s traditional leadership, with expectations high that his experience in public service and community development will contribute significantly to the growth and stability of the kingdom.
