Morocco Tops Africa’s Industrialization Ranking as Nigeria Places 14th in 2025 Index

Morocco has emerged as Africa’s most industrialized country in 2025, according to the latest Africa Industrialization Index, reinforcing its position as the continent’s leading manufacturing and industrial hub.

 

South Africa secured the second position on the continental ranking, followed by Egypt in third place, reflecting the sustained industrial strength of North and Southern African economies.

 

Tunisia ranked fourth, while Mauritius completed the top five, highlighting the continued progress of smaller economies in advancing industrial development, manufacturing capacity, and economic diversification.

 

Algeria claimed the sixth position, with Eswatini placing seventh. Senegal ranked eighth, followed by Namibia in ninth place, while Côte d’Ivoire rounded out the top ten.

 

Nigeria, despite being Africa’s largest economy by population and one of the continent’s biggest markets, ranked 14th on the 2025 Africa Industrialization Index, indicating significant room for improvement in industrial capacity, manufacturing competitiveness, and value-added production.
