“I Beg You, HIV is Real. Just Close Your Leg and Zip” — Young Doctor Goes on His Knees to Beg Youths, Says “I Just Tested a Young, Beautiful Girl, and Sadly She’s HIV Positive”
A young doctor has made an emotional appeal to young Nigerians to take HIV prevention seriously after revealing that he recently tested a young woman who was found to be living with HIV.
In a video that has attracted attention online, the doctor, visibly concerned by the situation, went down on his knees as he urged young people to be more careful about their sexual health and make informed decisions about relationships.
Sharing the experience that prompted his appeal, he said: “I just tested a young, beautiful girl, and sadly she’s HIV Positive. She may have gotten it from her boyfriend.”
The doctor then made a passionate plea to young men and women, warning that HIV remains a real public health concern and that people should not assume they are safe simply because someone looks healthy.
“I beg you, HIV is real. Just close your leg and zip”
His emotional message has sparked conversations about HIV awareness, responsible sexual behaviour, regular testing and the importance of knowing one’s status.
Health experts have repeatedly stressed that HIV can affect anyone, regardless of age, appearance or social background, and that a person living with HIV may show no obvious symptoms for years. They also emphasise that HIV testing, prevention, early diagnosis and access to effective treatment remain crucial in reducing transmission.
The doctor’s message therefore serves as a reminder for young people to protect themselves, communicate openly with their partners, avoid risky sexual behaviour and seek professional medical advice whenever they have concerns about HIV or other sexually transmitted infections.
While his plea was delivered in an emotional manner, the central message remains clear: HIV is real, and prevention, testing and responsible choices
can save lives.
