Apapa Customs Smashes Revenue Record With ₦28.1 Billion Collection in Just 24 Hours
The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Apapa Area Command, has set a new benchmark in revenue generation after collecting a staggering ₦28.102 billion within just 24 hours, marking the highest single-day revenue ever recorded in the history of the Command.
The unprecedented feat was achieved on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, according to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSC Isah Sulaiman.
The record-breaking collection of ₦28,102,000,914.61 shattered the Command’s previous highest daily revenue of ₦20.1 billion, which was recorded in September 2025, shortly after Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba assumed office as Customs Area Controller.
The latest achievement further strengthens Apapa Command’s position as a major driver of revenue for the Federal Government and comes only weeks after the Command posted another remarkable milestone of ₦323 billion in monthly revenue for July 2026.
The sustained surge in revenue has been linked to ongoing reforms, improved compliance by stakeholders, enhanced trade facilitation, intelligence-driven operations and the growing efficiency of digital Customs processes.
Comptroller Oshoba described the latest record as more than a numerical achievement, stressing that the revenue generated by the Nigeria Customs Service plays a critical role in supporting government programmes and improving the welfare of Nigerians.
Funds generated through Customs operations contribute to the financing of major public priorities, including infrastructure development, security, education, healthcare and other essential services.
The Customs Area Controller dedicated the milestone to the Government and people of Nigeria and commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, alongside the Service’s management team, for their continued support for modernisation, automation and reforms aimed at improving efficiency, transparency and ease of doing business.
Oshoba also acknowledged the contributions of compliant importers, exporters, licensed Customs agents and other stakeholders whose cooperation has helped the Command attain the historic record.
He equally recognised the role of patriotic Nigerians who have continued to provide actionable intelligence to support Customs operations and strengthen efforts against revenue leakages and other forms of infractions.
The Comptroller stressed that every legitimate and compliant transaction contributes to national development, urging stakeholders to continue supporting lawful trade and Customs reforms.
According to him, a stronger revenue base gives the government greater capacity to meet the needs of citizens, invest in development and create a more favourable environment for businesses to grow.
Despite the historic achievement, Oshoba charged officers and men of the Apapa Area Command to avoid complacency, insisting that the new record should serve as motivation to raise the bar even higher.
He emphasised that aggressive revenue generation must not come at the expense of trade facilitation, professionalism, transparency and respect for legitimate stakeholders.
Personnel of the Command were also directed to ensure that genuine disputes are resolved promptly and that Customs procedures do not create unnecessary obstacles for lawful businesses.
With the latest ₦28.1 billion single-day collection and the ₦323 billion monthly record already achieved in July, the Apapa Area Command appears to be sustaining an extraordinary revenue-generating momentum under Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba.
The Command remains focused on strengthening revenue collection, improving trade facilitation, deepening professionalism and expanding collaboration with stakeholders, with the ultimate goal of ensuring that every legitimate naira collected strengthens the government’s ability to deliver development and improve the lives of Nigerians.
