Abia State Govt. Restores Dismissed Homeland Security Officer, Tochi Oluebube, as Homeland Security Chief, Hon. Alajemba Apologises Over ‘Hasty’ Decision
The Abia State Government has restored Officer Tochi Oluebube to the Abia State Homeland Security Agency following Governor Alex Chioma Otti’s intervention and review of the circumstances surrounding her earlier dismissal.
The restoration was formally announced during Oluebube’s return to the Agency, where the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Homeland Security, Fire and Medical Emergency Services, Hon. Chukwunenye Alajemba, apologised to the officer over what he described as an injustice arising from the circumstances that led to her dismissal.
Alajemba disclosed that Governor Otti ordered a fresh investigation after Oluebube formally presented her complaint, adding that the investigation enabled her to establish her case.
According to him, upon reviewing the findings, the Governor directed that Oluebube’s dignity be restored and that she be returned to her former position in the Agency.
The Senior Special Assistant acknowledged that the initial decision to dismiss the officer was taken at a time when the facts surrounding the matter were not sufficiently clear, resulting in what he described as a premature decision.
He accepted responsibility, alongside others involved in the process, for the circumstances that led to Oluebube’s removal and expressed regret over the ordeal she had gone through.
Alajemba said Governor Otti subsequently instructed the management and Board of the Abia State Homeland Security Agency to take the necessary steps to restore Oluebube, stressing that the administration was committed to fairness, justice and the right of every citizen to a fair hearing.
He noted that the development should not be perceived as a victory for one party over another, but rather as the correction of an earlier wrong and an opportunity to restore the officer’s dignity.
The Governor’s intervention, he explained, had established that Oluebube was not culpable of the allegations that had resulted in her dismissal, describing her as a victim of circumstances surrounding the case.
Alajemba also appealed to Oluebube to embrace forgiveness as she resumed her duties, urging her to put the painful experience behind her and focus on moving forward with her career.
He encouraged her to extend forgiveness to those who may have played roles in the circumstances that led to her ordeal, stressing that forgiveness would help bring closure to the matter.
The Senior Special Assistant further assured Oluebube of the support of the Abia State Government, noting that Governor Otti had demonstrated his commitment to correcting the situation by personally intervening in the matter and directing her restoration.
He maintained that with the Governor’s decision, the matter should now be regarded as resolved, with Oluebube free to resume her responsibilities without the burden of the circumstances surrounding her previous dismissal.
The formal return marks the latest instance of the administration’s intervention in a personnel matter following a review of the circumstances of a case.
At the end of the proceedings, Alajemba formally welcomed Oluebube back to the Abia State Homeland Security Agency and called on her colleagues to receive her war
