Court Remands Alleged Fake PFIPC DG in Kuje Prison Over Conspiracy, Forgery Charges
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the remand of 38-year-old Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, who is accused of impersonating the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), in Kuje Correctional Centre.
Justice Mohammed Umar issued the remand order on Wednesday following Adeniyi’s arraignment on an eight-count charge bordering on conspiracy and forgery.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against him alongside two other suspects identified as Femi, whose surname was not disclosed, and Anu, who is also at large.
Following his plea, the prosecution urged the court to take appropriate steps to ensure the defendant remains in custody pending further proceedings.
Justice Umar subsequently ordered that Adeniyi be remanded in Kuje prison pending the hearing and determination of his bail application.
The court’s decision means the alleged fake PFIPC Director-General will remain in custody while the legal process over the allegations continues.
The two other defendants named in the charge, Femi and Anu, are reportedly still at large as authorities continue efforts to locate them.
