ABA NORTH DEPUTY MAYOR BURIES FOSTER FATHER, MR. SAMUEL CHIBUNDU NWAOGU IN ISIALA NORTH AS MAYOR TIMOTHY IHEKE LEADS DELEGATION
The Executive Mayor of Aba North Local Government Area of Abia State, Hon. Timothy Kalu Iheke, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, demonstrated deep compassion, solidarity and responsive leadership as he attended the burial ceremony of Late Mr. Samuel Chibundu Nwaogu, popularly known as Onye Nwe Ụgbọ, the foster father of the Deputy Mayor of Aba North Local Government Area, Hon. Christian Chijioke Ogbuisi, also known as Oyinbo.
The solemn and well-attended funeral ceremony took place at Umuaka Village, Ahiaba-Ubi, in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State, attracting a large gathering of political leaders, government officials, community stakeholders, friends, well-wishers and sympathizers who came to honour the life and legacy of the deceased, who passed on at the age of 71.
Leading a strong delegation from Aba North, Hon. Iheke was joined by the Deputy Mayor of Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, Hon. Ahamdi Ahamba; the Leader of Aba North Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Nnamdi Sunday; the Deputy Leader of the Aba North Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Ifeoma Grace Emmanuel; the Majority Leader of Aba North Legislative Council, Hon. Chika Desmond Ohaeri; and the Chief Whip of Aba South Local Government Legislative Council, Hon. Ukachukwu Ajah.
Also present were the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development, Comrade Onyebuchi Chukwu; the Member representing OSUSU 2 Ward 4, Hon. Akomas Obioha; the Secretary to Aba North Local Government, Hon. Frank Alaribe and several councillors from Aba North Local Government Area, reflecting strong institutional solidarity and unity.
The administrative leadership of Aba North Local Government Area was equally well represented, with the Head of Service of Aba North Council Headquarters, the Head of Personnel Management, Supervisor for Finance, Supervisor for Education, Supervisor for Health, as well as political appointees, aides, and staff members of the Aba North Local Government Area Council Headquarters in attendance.
The large turnout of dignitaries and community members underscored the respect and esteem Late Mr. Samuel Chibundu Nwaogu commanded during his lifetime, as well as the wide network of goodwill enjoyed by his family.
The funeral service was conducted by Faith Tabernacle Congregation, Umuchima District, where prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of the soul of the deceased and for God’s comfort and strength upon the bereaved family.
The presence of the Executive Mayor and other top government officials added colour, dignity and emotional depth to the ceremony, further reinforcing the spirit of empathy, communal bonding and people-centered leadership that continues to define governance in Aba North Local Government Area.
Late Mr. Samuel Chibundu Nwaogu was fondly remembered as a devoted family man whose life touched many lives, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, resilience and positive impact within his community.
