Abia Police Reunite Six-Year-Old Boy Found in Aba With Family in Akwa Ibom
The Abia State Police Command has successfully reunited a six-year-old boy found wandering in Aba with his family in Akwa Ibom State, bringing a heartwarming end to efforts to trace his relatives.
The child was found on September 25, 2026, by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), formally Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Abia State Police Command during a patrol around Brass Junction, along the Aba–Owerri Road.
According to the Command, the young boy was able to identify himself and disclosed that he was from Itam in Akwa Ibom State. His discovery immediately prompted police operatives to commence efforts to locate his family and establish how he ended up in Aba.
The Command said that, leveraging actionable intelligence, its operatives embarked on a painstaking process of tracing the boy’s relatives. The efforts eventually paid off, leading to the identification and location of his family in Akwa Ibom State.
After the necessary verification was conducted to establish the relationship between the child and the family, the six-year-old was successfully reunited with his relatives on Monday, October 5, 2026.
The successful reunion underscores the importance of prompt intervention and information-sharing in cases involving missing or found children, particularly when they are discovered far away from their homes.
The Abia State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property while ensuring the safety and well-being of children across the state.
The Command also urged members of the public to promptly report cases involving missing or found children to the nearest police station or through appropriate emergency channels.
According to the Police, timely information remains crucial to ensuring that vulnerable children are protected and reunited with their families as quickly as possible.
