ASTOPU Aba Zone Mobilises Tricycle Operators, Joins Ukwa-La-Ngwa Nation to Host Grand Civic Reception for Governor Alex Chioma Otti at Aba Sports Stadium
The Abia State Tricycle Operators Union (ASTOPU), Aba Zone, has announced its readiness to join the people of Ukwa-La-Ngwa extraction in hosting a grand civic reception in honour of the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR.
The civic reception, scheduled for Friday, January 30, 2026, by 10:00am at the Aba Sports Stadium, is expected to draw a massive turnout of residents, community leaders, transport unions, youth organisations, market associations, and political stakeholders from across Abia State.
According to the union, the event is being organised as a collective expression of appreciation to Governor Otti for his people-centred leadership style and the numerous developmental strides recorded under his administration, particularly in Aba and Ukwa-La-Ngwa areas.
ASTOPU Aba Zone described Governor Otti as a grassroots-friendly leader who has consistently demonstrated concern for the welfare of ordinary citizens, including transport workers, artisans, and small-scale business operators. The union noted that the ongoing reconstruction of major roads, improved security architecture, and urban renewal initiatives have positively impacted the daily operations of tricycle operators in Aba.
Speaking on behalf of the union, the Chairman of ASTOPU Aba Zone, Comrade Victor Azubuike, stated that tricycle operators are proud to identify with the people of Ukwa-La-Ngwa in celebrating their illustrious son, whom he described as a symbol of hope, accountability, and purposeful governance.
He explained that the governor’s commitment to transparency, economic revitalisation, and infrastructural development has restored public confidence in government and repositioned Abia State on the path of sustainable growth.
Comrade Azubuike called on all members of ASTOPU Aba Zone and other transport unions to come out en masse to participate in the civic reception, adding that their presence would serve as a strong show of solidarity and appreciation for Governor Otti’s transformational leadership.
The grand civic reception is expected to feature cultural performances, solidarity marches, goodwill messages, and endorsements from various groups, as supporters gather to celebrate the achievements of Governor Alex Chioma Otti and reaffirm their support for his administration.
