Atiku’s Lobbyist, Dr. Karl Von Batten Reposts Trump Appointment After Deleting Earlier Announcement
Dr. Karl Von Batten, a lobbyist associated with former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has reposted on social media an announcement of his appointment to a White House presidential commission.
Von Batten reposted the announcement late Sunday, about 24 hours after he had initially deleted the post announcing the appointment.
The development has attracted renewed attention because of Von Batten’s claims that the original post was removed following concerns allegedly raised by the Nigerian government over his appointment.
According to Von Batten, the White House had informed him that the Nigerian government had repeatedly contacted the US administration to complain about his appointment to the commission.
Despite the earlier deletion, checks on the verified X account of his firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, L.C., showed that the announcement had become available again.
The firm’s post announced that Von Batten had been appointed by US President Donald Trump to serve as a Commissioner on the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars.
The post read:
“We are glad to announce that on August 31, 2026, Dr Von Batten was appointed by President Donald J. Trump to serve as a Commissioner on the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars.
“We will remain grateful to the most consequential American President in our lifetime for choosing to honor Dr Von Batten with that appointment.
“God bless America, and may all who oppose her fail.”
The renewed announcement comes amid heightened political interest surrounding Von Batten’s activities in Nigeria and the United States, particularly his firm’s involvement in matters concerning President Bola Tinubu.
Von Batten-Montague-York, L.C. has previously drawn public attention in Nigeria over its stated interest in investigating allegations surrounding an alleged drug-trafficking case linked to Tinubu.
Von Batten has also been vocal on Nigerian political developments, with his activities and public statements frequently attracting reactions from supporters and opponents of the major political actors involved in the 2027 presidential race.
His reported appointment to the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars therefore adds another dimension to his growing public profile, particularly as he continues to operate at the intersection of American political lobbying and Nigerian political affairs.
The circumstances surrounding the deletion and subsequent reposting of the appointment announcement are also likely to generate further discussion, especially following Von Batten’s claim that complaints from the Nigerian government were behind the initial removal.
As of the reposting, the announcement remained accessible on the verified social media account of his firm, putting the appointment back in the public domain and renewing interest in the circumstances surrounding his selection.
