Beauty for Ashes: Late Herbert Wigwe’s Daughter, Tochi, Marries Investment Executive Wilson Aikhomu
Tochi Wigwe, daughter of the late billionaire banker and former Access Holdings Group Chief Executive Officer, Herbert Wigwe, has tied the knot with her heartthrob, Wilson Omogbale Aikhomu, in a traditional wedding ceremony.
The marriage, which marks a significant new chapter in Tochi’s life, took place on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, in a private ceremony attended by family members, close friends and loved ones.
The traditional wedding was celebrated with various cultural rites and family customs, including the payment of the bride price, the signing of family documents and the formal handing over of the bride to her husband’s family.
Although the ceremony was kept private, news of the marriage has attracted attention, particularly because of the painful family tragedy Tochi and her loved ones have endured over the past two years.
The wedding comes nearly three years after the devastating helicopter crash in California, United States, which claimed the lives of her parents and younger brother on February 9, 2024.
Herbert Wigwe, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s financial sector and former Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, died in the crash alongside his wife, Chizoba, and their son, Chizi.
The tragedy sent shockwaves across Nigeria’s business community and beyond, leaving family members, associates and admirers mourning the loss of one of the country’s most influential banking executives and his immediate family.
Reacting to Tochi’s wedding, her aunt took to social media to celebrate the occasion, expressing gratitude and drawing inspiration from the biblical promise of restoration after sorrow.
She wrote: “Beauty for ashes, Isaiah 61:3,″ a message that has resonated with many who remember the heartbreaking circumstances surrounding the Wigwe family.
Tochi is the eldest surviving daughter of Herbert and Chizoba Wigwe. Beyond her family background, she has remained connected to her late father’s legacy through her involvement in the Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe Foundation.
The foundation was established in honour of the late banking mogul to preserve his legacy, sustain his philanthropic vision and continue humanitarian initiatives associated with his name.
Her new husband, Wilson Omogbale Aikhomu, is a Lagos-based investment executive and the Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Zoya Admiralty.
He also comes from a prominent Nigerian family. Wilson is the son of the late Rear Admiral Joseph Omozuwa Aikhomu and the nephew of former Chief of General Staff, Admiral Augustus Aikhomu.
Interestingly, Wilson reportedly shared a close friendship with Tochi’s younger brother, Chizi, before his tragic death in the helicopter crash.
His connection to the Wigwe family and the reported friendship he had with Chizi add another emotional dimension to the union.
For Tochi, the traditional wedding represents a new beginning after an unimaginable period of personal loss. While the memories of her parents and younger brother remain an enduring part of her life, the celebration has offered family members and well-wishers an opportunity to share in her happiness and wish the newly married couple a fulfilling journey together.
The wedding has consequently drawn warm reactions, with many interpreting the occasion through the powerful message of restoration captured in her aunt’s bibli
