Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, OPHK, neutralised eight terrorists during clearance operations in Kayamla and Sojiri villages in Borno State, military sources confirmed.

The development was disclosed on Sunday by security analysts and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, via his X handle.

According to the report, the operation, codenamed Desert Sanity V, involved coordinated patrols and clearance missions targeting insurgents of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS/ISWAP) who were reportedly hibernating in the area.

The troops, working alongside Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF, personnel, engaged the terrorists in a gun battle, resulting in the neutralisation of eight insurgents. Others reportedly fled, leaving behind weapons, including AK-47 rifles.

Sources confirmed that there were no casualties among the troops and no operational equipment was damaged.

The patrol team continues to conduct operations in surrounding enclaves to prevent insurgents from regrouping.
