Social media personality Ayomiposi Oluwadahunsi, popularly known as “Mandy Kiss,” has been officially unveiled as a brand ambassador for the Lagos State Kick Against Drug and Substance Abuse (LASKADA) initiative.

The announcement was made on Tuesday at an event organised by LASKADA, where the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, conferred the ambassadorship on Mandy Kiss. The development, however, has sparked widespread conversations due to her recent controversial declaration of attempting a Guinness World Record involving a marathon sex act.

In a viral video posted by an X user, #dammiedammie35, the Commissioner explained the rationale behind her appointment, emphasizing the government’s resolve to deploy influencers with a large following in the fight against substance abuse.

He said, “We’re here with Mandy Kiss, and you know, she’s actually agreed to become one of our LASKADA brand ambassadors, Lagos State Kicks Against Drug Abuse.

“Drugs are a pandemic that is hitting our streets, it is a pandemic that is hitting our society, it is a pandemic that is hitting our community. The government cannot fight it alone.

“We must work in collaboration with those that can reach as many people as possible, and we know Mandy Kiss has a large followership, 402,000. We’ve had conversations and we’re trying to do things differently.”

He added, “With the powers conferred on me, I make her one of our brand ambassadors. So, say no to drugs. Say what? Say no to drugs.”

This latest appointment comes just days after its was reported that Mandy Kiss had scheduled September 30 for a controversial attempt to engage in sexual activity with 100 men in a single day in Ikorodu, Lagos, claiming it was aimed at entering the Guinness World Records.

The Guinness World Records organisation swiftly disowned the proposal, clarifying that it “does not monitor or endorse sexual activity as a record category.”

Although Mandy Kiss later described the announcement as a joke, it triggered outrage among members of the public, with some calling on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to sanction her.

Speaking further at the event, Commissioner Ogunlende expressed optimism that Mandy Kiss could leverage her platform to amplify LASKADA’s mission despite her checkered past.

He said, “Everybody has a past, nobody’s perfect, but again, as a brand ambassador to Legal State Kicks Against Drug Abuse, we hope Mandy Kiss will be able to reach the nooks and crannies, you know, of Lagos to assist us in fighting this pandemic.”

Details of her official duties or any planned community campaigns have not yet been released by the Lagos State Government.

LASKADA remains at the forefront of coordinating a multi-sectoral, evidence-based response to drug and substance abuse in Lagos State. Its mandate includes sustained advocacy, public enlightenment, grassroots engagement, policy influence, and research targeted at curbing the rising menace.
