FG Plans 4,000-Man Social Media Influencer Network To Showcase Tinubu Administration’s Infrastructure Projects
The Federal Government has announced plans to engage about 4,000 social media influencers as part of a major communication strategy aimed at showcasing infrastructure projects delivered under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, disclosed the plan on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in Abuja while receiving a report from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) following its inspection of federal road projects across Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna and Sokoto states.
According to Umahi, the proposed influencer network is expected to strengthen the government’s direct communication with Nigerians by using social media platforms to highlight ongoing and completed infrastructure projects across the country.
The initiative is particularly targeted at reaching young Nigerians, who constitute a significant portion of the country’s highly active social media population.
The minister explained that the government intends to leverage the reach and visibility of social media influencers to provide citizens with greater awareness of projects being executed by the Federal Government, their locations and their progress.
The move comes as the administration intensifies efforts to communicate its development activities and infrastructure investments to the public ahead of the 2027 general election.
Umahi’s disclosure followed the NANS inspection of several federal road projects in the North-West, with the student body expected to provide an independent account of its observations from the field.
The proposed 4,000-member influencer network would potentially give the government a much wider digital footprint, allowing infrastructure updates to circulate across different social media communities and demographics.
The plan also reflects the growing importance of digital platforms in political and public communication in Nigeria, where social media has become a major avenue through which young people receive news, debate government policies and track developments across the country.
With the 2027 elections approaching, the Federal Government’s proposed strategy is expected to place greater emphasis on communicating its infrastructure record and ensuring that projects being executed across different states receive wider public visibility.
