GOV. ALEX OTTI SPEAKS TO ABIANS: Gov. Alex Otti Declares Completion of 200 Primary Healthcare Centres, Announces New General Hospital for Ndoki, Ukwa East
In a landmark update on healthcare development across Abia State, Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti OFR has officially announced the completion of Project Ekwueme, a major initiative involving the construction and rehabilitation of 200 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs). The Governor emphasized that these facilities were only opened after being fully equipped and staffed, ensuring that every community benefits from modern and functional healthcare services.
The announcement was made on Thursday at the Government House, Umuahia, during the January 2026 edition of “Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians,” the state’s monthly media engagement platform where journalists interact directly with the Governor on government policies and programs.
In addition to the successful completion of Project Ekwueme, Governor Otti confirmed the award and commencement of construction of a new General Hospital in Ndoki, Ukwa East. The hospital will be built on land generously donated by the Omega Power Ministry (OPM) under HRH Apostle Chiubuzor Gift Chinyere. Highlighting the urgency and commitment to improving healthcare delivery, the Governor assured that the hospital is slated to be fully completed before the end of 2026, further expanding access to quality medical care for residents of Ukwa East and surrounding communities.
