Gov. Alex Otti to Flag Off Reconstruction of Enyimba International Hotel in Aba, Targets 5,500 Jobs and Massive IGR Boost Through Radisson Blu Partnership

The administration of Alex Otti is set to record another milestone in its sweeping industrial and economic transformation drive as the Governor prepares to formally flag off the reconstruction of the Enyimba International Hotel, Aba, on February 25.
The ambitious project, positioned at the heart of the State’s industrial transformation agenda, is designed to revitalise the hospitality sector, stimulate economic activities, and reposition Aba as a premier business and tourism destination in Nigeria.
The Honourable Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, made this known while briefing journalists on the outcome of this week’s Executive Council Meeting presided over by the Governor. He explained that the reconstruction of the iconic Enyimba International Hotel marks a strategic intervention by the State Government to unlock new economic opportunities and strengthen investor confidence in Abia.
Providing further insight into the project framework, Prince Kanu disclosed that the Abia State Government, represented by Enyimba International Hotel Limited, had about a year ago signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Radisson Blu Group, an international hospitality brand, which will manage the facility upon completion.
The partnership with the globally recognised hospitality brand is expected to ensure that the reconstructed hotel meets international standards in service delivery, infrastructure, and management efficiency. It also signals the State Government’s commitment to attracting credible global partners capable of driving sustainable growth in critical sectors.
According to the Commissioner, the hotel will undergo comprehensive retrofitting and renovation to Five-Star standards. Upon full completion, the facility will boast 250 rooms, beginning initially with 155 rooms before scaling up to its maximum capacity.
The phased development model is designed to ensure timely delivery while maintaining the highest quality benchmarks. When completed, the hotel is expected to serve as a hospitality hub for business executives, investors, tourists, and participants in conferences and industrial exhibitions in Aba and beyond.
Beyond its architectural and aesthetic upgrade, the Enyimba International Hotel project carries enormous economic implications for the State. The Commissioner highlighted that once fully operational, the facility is projected to generate about 5,500 direct and indirect jobs across various segments of the economy, including hospitality services, supply chains, tourism, logistics, and ancillary businesses.
“It is worthy to note that when fully operational, the facility will provide about 5,500 direct and indirect jobs.
“The Abia State Government aims to boost its Internally Generated Revenue from the Five-Star hotel facility.
“The hotel project will help the State Government to drive its economic growth, boost Internally Generated Revenue and provide the State with a robust presence in the Nigerian hospitality industry,” he said.
The reconstruction of Enyimba International Hotel represents more than a structural upgrade; it reflects a broader economic strategy by the Otti-led administration to reposition Aba as a competitive commercial and industrial hub. By strengthening the hospitality sector, the State Government aims to complement ongoing reforms in infrastructure, security, and ease of doing business.
With global-standard management under Radisson Blu and a clear focus on revenue generation and job creation, the Enyimba International Hotel is poised to become a symbol of Abia’s renewed economic confidence and industrial rebirth.
