Gov. Sanwo-Olu Appoints Professor Badejo Ayodeji Olawumi as New LASU Vice-Chancellor
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of Professor Badejo Ayodeji Olawumi, née Faji, as the new Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo.
The appointment was announced on Wednesday by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, marking a new chapter in the leadership of the state-owned university.
Professor Badejo, a distinguished academic and Professor of Guidance and Counselling, was born on August 4, 1962. She brings extensive academic experience to the position and is expected to provide leadership for the institution as it continues to pursue academic excellence, research development and institutional growth.
She obtained both her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Guidance and Counselling and Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Guidance and Counselling from the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
Badejo takes over from Professor Ibijoke Olatunji-Bello, whose five-year tenure as Vice-Chancellor is coming to an end following her retirement.
Her appointment places her at the helm of one of Nigeria’s prominent tertiary institutions at a time when universities across the country are increasingly focused on strengthening academic standards, innovation, research and global competitiveness.
The new Vice-Chancellor is expected to build on the achievements of the outgoing administration while providing fresh direction for LASU’s continued development.
