Legislative Floor Records Rare Bipartisan Accord as Bende North Lawmaker, Hon. Nnamdi Ibekwe, Commends Governor Otti’s Targeted Interventions and Grassroots Impact
A rare moment of political harmony unfolded on the floor of the Abia State House of Assembly during the session for personal explanations, as the Member representing Bende North State Constituency, Hon. Nnamdi Ibekwe, rose to publicly acknowledge and appreciate the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for what he described as tangible, people-focused interventions in his constituency.
Speaking on behalf of the people of Bende North, Hon. Ibekwe meticulously outlined a series of executive actions by the Otti-led administration that have brought measurable relief and development to communities within the constituency. Foremost among them was the Governor’s swift response to the long-standing and devastating erosion challenges in Alayi and Okoko ITEM, interventions which have helped to stem environmental degradation and protect lives, farmlands, and critical infrastructure.
The lawmaker further highlighted Governor Otti’s personal involvement in mediating the protracted Ugwueke–Akaeze communal conflict, noting that the Governor’s hands-on approach played a crucial role in restoring peace and fostering coexistence between the affected communities.
Also cited was the reconstruction of a major road linking key parts of the constituency, a project that has significantly improved mobility, enhanced economic activities, and eased access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities for residents.
In addition, Hon. Ibekwe drew attention to the strategic appointment of an indigene of the area to head a critical sector of the state’s agricultural transformation drive, describing it as both a confidence boost for the local population and a demonstration of inclusive governance that recognizes competence and local capacity.
The appreciation, which was formally captured in the legislative records, was widely seen as an acknowledgment of effective governance and responsive leadership. It is noted that the gesture also underscored a growing atmosphere of cooperation between the legislative and executive arms of government, anchored on shared commitment to development and the overall well-being of Abia citizens.
