The event, marked by colour, excitement, and overwhelming turnout, stood as a resounding affirmation of the Governor’s growing popularity and the deep-rooted confidence of his people in his transformational leadership.
At the heart of this historic gathering was the Mayor of Aba South Local Government Area, Hon. Obialor Denis Anyanwu, who served as host and chief mobiliser of the landmark occasion. From conception to execution, the Mayor played a central role in delivering a well-coordinated and seamless reception that brought together traditional rulers, political leaders, business icons, community stakeholders, youth groups, and thousands of ordinary citizens.
Hon. Obialor Anyanwu’s leadership presence was felt throughout the event, but it reached a defining moment with his grand entrance alongside traditional Ngwa masquerades. The spectacle symbolised authority, cultural heritage, and deep ancestral connection, portraying the Mayor not merely as a political office holder but as a true son of the soil and proud representative of the host local government. The massive cheers and spontaneous jubilation that greeted his arrival reflected the genuine affection and acceptance he enjoys among the people of Aba South, cutting across clan, ethnicity, and background.
Observers described the Mayor’s entrance as one of the most captivating moments of the ceremony, a powerful fusion of tradition and modern governance that underscored his inclusive leadership style and strong grassroots base. The overwhelming crowd response further highlighted his ability to mobilise both indigenes and non-indigenes around a shared vision of progress and unity.
The event was chaired by former Senate President and a true son from Ukwa-La-Ngwa, Senator Adolphus Wabara, whose presence added weight and national prestige to the gathering.
In his opening remarks, he appraised the reforms and projects being executed by the Otti administration and declared that Abia has entered a new era defined by transparency, competence, and measurable results. He noted that the pace and quality of development under Governor Otti reflect a long-term vision aimed at securing a prosperous future for the state.
Several prominent leaders, including Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe and Senator Darlington Nwokocha, also lent their voices in support of the Governor, acknowledging that his leadership has restored the dignity and confidence of the Abia people. Their interventions reinforced the growing consensus that Abia is firmly on the path of sustainable development.
In his response, Governor Otti expressed profound gratitude to Ndi Ukwa-La-Ngwa for the honour accorded to him, describing the reception as historic and deeply humbling. He reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to building a prosperous, inclusive, and globally competitive Abia State. The Governor outlined major projects lined up for commissioning and flag-off, including the redevelopment of the iconic Enyimba Hotel, assuring the people that his government remains focused on lifting Abia to enviable heights.
