Okwulora Ndị Igbo Applauds Governor Otti for ₦40.2m Support to Kidney Transplant Patient.
A prominent broadcasting and media personality known for promoting good living, social responsibility and just governance in Igbo land, Mr. Emmanuel Onyeka Okoh, popularly known as Okwulora Ndị Igbo, has commended Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for his remarkable intervention in the medical treatment of a young kidney transplant patient, Chisom Mbakwe.
Okoh, who hails from Enugu State, expressed his appreciation after learning of the Governor’s latest financial assistance to the young girl, who has been battling chronic kidney failure and undergoing treatment following a kidney transplant.
According to him, he had earlier visited Umuahia after learning about Chisom’s condition and personally mobilised funds to support her treatment. However, the money raised was insufficient to meet the enormous cost of her medical care.
He said the family subsequently informed him that Governor Otti had intervened by providing ₦22 million towards Chisom’s treatment.
Despite the initial assistance, Chisom still required substantial funds for her post-transplant medication and continued medical care. The family later disclosed that another ₦18.2 million was needed to enable her to continue with her post-transplant medication.
Okoh said he was subsequently informed on Sunday, September 6, 2026, that the Abia State Government had again provided the required ₦18.2 million through the office of Governor Otti.
With the latest intervention, Governor Otti’s total financial assistance to Chisom now stands at ₦40.2 million, comprising the earlier ₦22 million and the additional ₦18.2 million.
The development has drawn commendation from Okoh, who described the Governor’s intervention as a demonstration of compassion and responsiveness to the plight of vulnerable citizens.
He praised Governor Otti for paying attention to the challenges confronting ordinary people and for using the resources and influence of government to provide meaningful assistance to those facing serious difficulties.
Okoh also prayed for long life and greater opportunities for the Governor, expressing hope that Governor Otti would continue to rise beyond his current position and make an even greater impact in public service.
He further commended the Governor for what he described as a new approach to politics and governance in Abia State, particularly his willingness to respond to humanitarian and medical emergencies affecting residents.
The intervention in Chisom’s case has once again highlighted the importance of compassionate leadership, especially when citizens facing life-threatening medical conditions require support beyond their families
