President Bola Tinubu to Inaugurate APC Presidential Campaign Council October 14 as Party Intensifies 2027 Re-Election Push
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to inaugurate the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, marking a major step in the ruling party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration, scheduled to take place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, is expected to bring together prominent APC leaders, governors, political strategists and other stakeholders tasked with coordinating the party’s nationwide campaign and mobilising support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Former Zamfara State Governor and Senator, Abdulaziz Yari, who serves as Director-General of the campaign council, disclosed the development on Friday following a meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa. He confirmed that Tinubu had approved the proposed campaign timetable, paving the way for the formal commencement of the party’s election preparations.
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has been designated as secretary of the campaign council, while former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr Betta Edu, is expected to play a prominent role in the women mobilisation directorate.
The council is expected to serve as the central coordinating body for the APC’s 2027 presidential campaign, overseeing grassroots mobilisation, strategic communication, voter engagement and efforts to strengthen the party’s structures across the country.
According to the proposed timetable, the campaign is expected to kick off with a rally in Kaduna State on October 24, before moving to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and Maiduguri, Borno State. The planned rallies are expected to provide a platform for the APC to rally its supporters, showcase its political machinery and build momentum ahead of the 2027 polls.
Meanwhile, preparations for the electioneering campaign are reportedly gathering momentum, particularly within the party’s women mobilisation network. First Lady Oluremi Tinubu and members of the women mobilisation team have reportedly begun grassroots engagements aimed at expanding the President’s support base across communities nationwide.
The women mobilisation directorate has set an ambitious target of mobilising 40 million women’s votes for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket. The initiative is expected to focus on community outreach, engagement with women’s groups and the activation of polling-unit structures across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The emphasis on women’s participation reflects the campaign team’s strategy to strengthen its grassroots presence and increase voter engagement ahead of the next presidential election.
The October 14 inauguration is therefore expected to formally activate the APC Presidential Campaign Council and establish the operational framework for its nationwide activities. With the proposed rallies and mobilisation initiatives already taking shape, the ruling party is moving to organise its political structures well ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The coming weeks are expected to provide a clearer picture of the campaign council’s operational plans, mobilisation strategy and approach to securing support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
