2027: Aba North Traditional Rulers, Women, Youths Rally Behind Gov. Otti, Declare Total Support for Second Term Bid

Traditional rulers, village heads, women leaders, youth leaders and critical stakeholders from Aba North Local Government Areas of Abia State have unanimously endorsed Governor Alex Otti for a second term in office, adopting him as their sole candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement came during the continuation of the statewide sensitisation tour by the Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, aimed at encouraging citizens across communities to participate actively in the ongoing voter registration exercise and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of future elections.
The sensitisation meeting, which held at the Aba North Local Government Council Headquarters in Eziama-Aba, attracted traditional rulers, village heads, women leaders, youth representatives and stakeholders from different communities across the area.
Addressing participants during the gathering, the Mayor of Aba North Local Government Area, Hon. Timothy Kalu Iheke, commended the Council of Traditional Rulers for embarking on the tour, describing the visit as timely and impactful to the people of Aba North.
He noted that the presence of the royal fathers signified peace, unity and blessings for the people, while assuring that his administration would continue to sustain the peaceful atmosphere already established in the area.
Hon. Iheke recalled the early days of Governor Alex Otti’s governorship ambition in 2014, when many doubted the vision of a New Abia.
According to him, the transformation currently being witnessed across the state has validated the governor’s vision and leadership capacity.
He stated that Governor Otti has become a leader whose performance speaks for itself, stressing that the administration inherited a state in ruins but has steadily restored hope through visible developmental projects and reforms.
The Mayor further disclosed that the Aba North Council would soon commence the construction of a legislative quarters project, which he described as part of the positive interventions inspired by the guidance and support of the traditional institution.
Speaking during the event, the Chairman of the Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Eze Linus Nto Mbah, said the royal fathers came to Aba North with a message of progress, unity and continuity.
He applauded Governor Alex Otti for what he described as tremendous achievements recorded since assuming office, noting that the governor immediately translated campaign promises into practical action upon resumption.
The traditional rulers’ chairman highlighted several projects and reforms undertaken by the administration, including the reconstruction of critical roads such as Port Harcourt Road and Ohanku Road in Aba, improvements in healthcare delivery, youth empowerment programmes which includes the TechRise initiative, employment of teachers, free education from primary to secondary school level, prompt payment of salaries and pensions, as well as improved security across the state.
Eze Nto Mbah further urged residents of Aba North to participate actively in the ongoing voter registration exercise, stressing that obtaining the Permanent Voter Card remains essential for citizens to perform their civic responsibilities and contribute to sustaining good governance in the state.
Also speaking, HRH Eze Love Nwogu expressed appreciation to the traditional rulers, village heads and youth leaders present at the meeting, declaring that Aba North remains fully committed to the re-election of Governor Alex Otti in 2027.
He urged residents not to stop at declarations of support alone but to ensure active participation in the ongoing voter registration exercise, stressing that the Permanent Voter Card remains the most important tool for sustaining the current administration beyond 2027.
According to him, all participants at the gathering would return to their various communities to intensify sensitisation and encourage wider participation in the voter registration process.
Adding their voices in support of the endorsement, the Chairman of the Council of Village Heads in Aba North, High Chief Elijah Nwachi, alongside the Chairperson of Aba North, Mrs. Ijeoma Omenazu, pledged the total support of village heads and women groups in Aba North for Governor Otti’s second-term bid.
They assured that community leaders across the two local government areas would mobilise residents to participate massively in the ongoing voter registration exercise in order to sustain the present administration.
