“APC Using Every Method to Intimidate and Scatter Opposition Plans” — Kenneth Okonkwo Alleges Ahead of 2027 Elections

Former National Officer of the Labour Party and prominent political activist, Kenneth Okonkwo, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of employing intimidation tactics aimed at destabilizing opposition activities across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during a live appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday, Okonkwo alleged that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) his current political platform has faced a series of orchestrated attacks while attempting to hold meetings in different parts of Nigeria.

“ADC is on fire. The only thing is that we have an APC that is using every method to intimidate and scatter the plans of the opposition,” he said.

According to Okonkwo, the ruling party has allegedly used both political thugs and compromised security operatives to disrupt lawful gatherings of opposition parties. He specifically mentioned Kaduna, Lagos, and Ekiti States as areas where ADC meetings were reportedly violently dispersed by individuals “acting under the supervision of security agencies.”

He condemned what he described as the “manipulation of security institutions” by the APC to frustrate opposition movements, stressing that such actions violate the Electoral Act, which guarantees equal protection and political space for all registered political parties in Nigeria.

Despite these alleged intimidations, Okonkwo expressed optimism about the ADC’s growing strength and determination to offer Nigerians a credible alternative in 2027.

“ADC is going to form the next government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We are strategizing, and we are going to beat this APC. They are already imploding because all these endorsements are just an amalgamation of sycophants,” he added confidently.

The actor-turned-politician emphasized that Nigerians are becoming more politically aware and would no longer tolerate any form of suppression or manipulation that undermines democracy. He called on security agencies to remain neutral and uphold the law as the country prepares for another electoral cycle.

Okonkwo’s remarks have further fueled the ongoing debate about political intimidation and shrinking opposition space under the current administration, raising concerns among observers about the state of Nigeria’s democratic process ahead of 2027.
