Police declare death row inmate wanted after he escaped from maximum prison in Yobe

Yobe State Police Command has announced the escape of one condemned inmate, Abba Hassan, from the Maximum Security Custodial Centre, Potiskum.

The Command through its Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said the fugitive is a native of Borno State.

The police warned the public to be vigilant and support the command in the rearrest of the escaped convict.

A statement by the command’s PRO Saturday, said, “Members of the public, security agencies, transport operators, community leaders, and vigilante groups within Yobe State and neighbouring states are hereby advised to be vigilant and report any sighting or information that may lead to his location and prompt rearrest.

“Do not attempt to confront or apprehend him on your own”, it warned.

The Command advised public to report to the nearest Police Station or nearest Correctional Service facility, or call the following emergency numbers, 08038452982.
