Genocide: Boko Haram, radical Islamic groups threat to humanity – Senator Graham tells Trump
US Senator, Lindsey Graham has urged President Donald Trump to provide military assistance to Nigeria to stop what he described as the “slaughter of Christians” by Boko Haram and other radical Islamic groups.
In a post on X on Monday, Graham said the attacks by insurgents in the region amount to religious genocide, stressing that the extremist groups pose a threat to humanity, not just Africa.
“I hope that President Trump will provide military assistance to prevent the further slaughter of Christians in Nigeria. This is religious genocide. Boko Haram and other radical Islamic groups in the region pose a threat to humanity, not just to Africa,” he wrote.
Describing the actions of the groups as “depraved and barbaric,” the senator said the US must protect innocent people from “out of control violence.”
Graham further urged Trump to use the remaining years of his presidency to do as much good as he can, adding that defending persecuted Christians in Nigeria would fulfill that mandate.
He wrote: “I hope that President Trump will provide military assistance to prevent the further slaughter of Christians in Nigeria. This is religious genocide. Boko Haram and other radical Islamic groups in the region pose a threat to humanity, not just to Africa.
“The level of depravity and barbaric behavior is beyond description. President Trump would serve the world well by protecting the innocent from out of control violence. This is a worthy cause for our men and women in uniform.
“President Trump has three years left in his term to do as much good as he can. Protecting Christians in Nigeria would be fulfilling that mandate.”
