ABA NORTH CELEBRATES WORLD SCIENCE DAY WITH GOV. ALEX OTTI CHAMPIONING SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, AND PEACE FOR A SMARTER FUTURE

…as Council Boss, Hon. Timothy Kalu Iheke Commends Gov. Otti’s Visionary Leadership

As the world commemorates the 2025 World Science Day for Peace and Development, the Executive Chairman of Aba North Local Government Area, Hon. Timothy Kalu Iheke, has hailed Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for his transformative vision in driving science, technology, and innovation across Abia State.

This year’s global theme, “Trust, Transformation, and Tomorrow: The Science We Need for 2050,” aligns strongly with the ongoing scientific and technological revolution unfolding in Abia under Governor Otti’s administration.

Speaking in celebration of the event on November 10, 2025, Hon. Iheke described the Otti-led government as “a model of visionary governance built on trust, innovation, and practical transformation.”

Hon. Iheke highlighted the Abia TechRise Training Initiative as a major step in reshaping the digital destiny of Abia youth. The program, which is being implemented across all 17 Local Government Areas in partnership with the state government, equips young Abians with critical digital and technological skills that are vital for a 21st-century economy.

According to him, “the TechRise program is more than a training opportunity, it’s a revolution of the mind that empowers youths to innovate, create, and build a future free from crime and dependency.”

He also lauded the introduction of Smart Schools in Abia State, describing them as “centers of the future.” These modern learning facilities, equipped with ICT laboratories, technological systems, science labs and internet connectivity, aim to transform education and prepare young Abians to compete globally in science and technology.

“With Smart Schools, Governor Otti is not only reforming education but nurturing the next generation of scientists, inventors, and innovators,” Iheke stated.

Hon. Iheke further pointed to the Abia State Duct Infrastructure Project recently flagged off by Governor Otti as another evidence of the administration’s forward-thinking agenda. The project, he said, will provide the digital backbone for the state’s technological ecosystem, linking innovation hubs, businesses, and government institutions in a modern communication network. He noted that Aba, being the industrial and commercial nerve center of Abia stands to benefit immensely from this initiative.

“The Duct Infrastructure Project will not only make Abia a smart state but also position Aba as the technology and innovation capital of the Southeast,” he emphasized.

While applauding the government’s drive for technological transformation, Hon. Iheke also commended the administration for using science and data-driven strategies to strengthen peace and security across the state. He praised the creation of the State Joint Task Force “Operation Crush”, a security outfit established by Governor Otti to combat crime and maintain law and order.

According to him, the success of Operation Crush in curbing criminal activities is a clear demonstration of how “science and governance can work hand in hand to sustain peace.”

He added that through programs like TechRise and Smart Schools, the government is addressing the root causes of insecurity, unemployment and idleness by giving young people a chance to learn, innovate, and prosper.

Hon. Iheke noted that Abia State is already living out the spirit of this year’s World Science Day theme by building trust through transparent governance, transforming lives through science-based education, and securing peace through innovation and responsible leadership.

“Under Dr. Alex Otti’s leadership, Abia is not waiting for 2050, we are already shaping it.

“From digital education to smart infrastructure and peace-oriented governance, every step this administration takes is a step toward the future,” he declared.

The Aba North Council Boss reaffirmed his local government’s readiness to continue partnering with the state government in promoting science, innovation, and peace.

As the world looks ahead to 2050, Hon. Iheke said Abia State stands out as a beacon of scientific transformation and peaceful coexistence. He urged youths to embrace technology and take advantage of the numerous opportunities created by the Otti-led government to redefine their destinies.

“Governor Alex Otti has made science and technology a way of life in Abia. Through trust, transformation, and innovation, our tomorrow is already secure,” he concluded.
